of its acoustic rock beginnings
gingen.
Dana Malzer was born on the 8th of June 1990 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After a short time her and her family moved to Cairo, Egypt where she began her schooling in the D.E.O. After 6 years she was off to move again to Bonn, Germany where she began to learn how to play the Clarinet and the Piano. She soon established a great passion for melodies and rhythms. After 4 years she moved to Muscat, Oman where she attended the American British Academy and joined a Band with two friends of her class. By the time she was 13 years old she was given the opportunity to perform at a yearly talent show which was hosted by school and whilst performing in front of 700 people she knew that this is what she wants to do for the rest of her life.
One day she was asked to come and perform at at Radio Hi! Fm (International Radio Station in Oman). She performed one of her own compositions called 'Hey'. This song was the broadcasted twice a day for 2 weeks. Dana and her close friend were then asked to be the support act for The Proclaimers who had a gig at the Intercontinental Hotel in 2008. Dana performed multiple Duets which included covers of "Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy, Imagine - John Lennon and Time after Time - Cindy Lauper". These were performed in front of nearly 3500 people amongst the audience.
Dana got a lot of musical inspiration from her Father (who used to be the lead singer and guitarist of a Rock and Cover Band when he was her age). After a short time of being in a Band he taught her how to play the guitar. Shortly after Dana managed to teach herself how to play power/bar chords and how to finger pick songs/notes.
Throughout
my teenage years i played in bands but then moved to playing solo after my old
band 'Waiting For Sirens' split. The name 'The Lion and the Wolf' is the name
of one of the first songs i wrote when i went solo, i liked the name and
decided to use it as my alias. Basically i didn't want to be just another
singer songwriter 'Tom George'. My
influences range from lots of different acts, from acts such as Paul Simon and
Peter Gabriel through to modern day acts like Ray Lamontagne and Fences. I take
influence from so much around me, love, loss moving onwards and upwards are a
few areas i guess i write about the most. Ultimately i want to give out a
positive message even though some of the lyrics may appear sad.

George's solo act 'The Lion and the Wolf' has an incredibly intimate feel with
his live performance which is complimented by lo-fi home recordings all done in
the name of the DIY ethic. This is replicated beautifully through a haunting
and passionate live show which often sees TLATW step away from the mic and walk
around the crowd singing his message. Having toured all over the UK countless
times, and played countless venues, living rooms, gardens, kitchens and
festivals. TLATW is sure to bring an uplifting and meaningful experience to the
audience.
